Boyz II Men
Urban, R&B, Pop, Male, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s
In 1990-only two years after Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, and Wanya Morris came together at Philadelphia's School for Creative and Performing Arts, Boyz II Men released an album that would challenge every record set during the rock era.
Cooley High Harmony, now at 9 million units and counting, became the biggest-selling album ever released by an R&B group. But could they do it again?
Boyz II Men's next studio album, II, released in September, 1994, reached a stunning 11 million units in 1995. It was boosted by a record-breaking single, "I'll Make Love To You," which claimed the #1 spot for 14 weeks, tying Whitney Houston for the all-time record.
Boyz II Men have also reached platinum status with their other releases: Christmas Interpretations, The Remix Collection, and their video compilation, Then II Now.
Boys 2 Men were an instant sensation on the R&B pop charts with their 1993 release of Cooleyhighharmony, which featured the blockbuster "Motownphilly," and dulcet melody of "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye." Their 60's street harmony and hip-hop doo wop style serves as the foundation for the groups' exceptional vocals which, at times a cappella, meld the five-men Boyz 2 Men into one living and golden entity as exemplified by their single "The End of the Road," which set a new record for its No. 1 position on the charts. After the release of Colleyhighharmony by Motown, Boys 2 Men followed with the album "II," released in 1996, again breaking the charts with their single, "I'll Make Love to You."
Boyz II Men returns in full force with their new album, EVOLUTION. This album features the #1 smash single '4 Seasons of Loneliness' (Written & produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) as well as 'A Song For Mama' (Written and produced by Babyface) from the new movie SOUL FOOD. Be sure to check out the #1 vocal group of all time on November 13th on BET's Planet Groove.
