Les Musiques de Broadway, featuring Shorey Walker
Broadway, Variety, Theatrical Productions, Musicals, Singing/Dancing, Male/Female, with Orchestra, 2000's, 2010's
Les Musiques de Broadway was created by Jazz Hall of Famer and Director of The Glen Miller Orchestra the late Clem DeRosa and Mark Sonder in 1998. Now, Mark Sonder Productions and Shorey Walker wish to welcome to the musical world of Les Musiques de Broadway. The theatre has formed an integral part of music for centuries. Many of the master composers have experienced their greatest success in the theatre, from Mozart and Wagner to Gershwin, Sondheim and Cyndi Lauper. All people, throughout the centuries, love to hear music with their eyes.
That piece of real estate in New York City, known as Broadway, has seen the production of contemporary music's most treasured repertoire; it has been the working place for dozens of America's most gifted composers, lyricists, playwrights, producers, directors and performers. Staged musicals of genuine quality demonstrate a staying power unique in most popular music.
The death of Broadway has been predicted since the 1930's, but this lively tradition refuses to attend its own funeral. While most of the hits of the 1980's were imported from England - notably, Cats, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera - more recently, home-grown musicals, as well as revivals, have shown a decided resurgence. The 21st Century has brought this genre of music into limelight once again.
Les Musiques de Broadway is a touring group, based in New York City, with its vocalists/dancers not accompanied by tape but by live musicians, and all are veterans of the Broadway stage or pit orchestras. The show moves smoothly through the various segments, tied together with appropriate music and dialogue to create the mood and background for each selection.
Les Musiques de Broadway offers 3 different shows. Their Legends Show embraces the wonderful tradition of Broadway. Included in this show are tunes from Man of La Mancha, Oklahoma and A Chorus Line to modern legends, like Phantom and Cats. Their Revivals Show includes the extraordinary shows that have graced the Great White Way more than once.
The most popular production is called On Broadway and features music chosen from today's currently running major shows. We have endeavored to bring you a "contemporary nostalgic" album of tunes that, while understandably not all-encompassing, is an assortment of the last few years of show tunes that will stand the test of time and are known as "contemporary standards" in American musical theatre.
Now relive these glorious shows with Les Musiques de Broadway whose songs are arranged so that your attendees, registrants can listen, learn and be entertained as the music of Broadway comes to you!

Short Bio and Reviews of the work of Shorey Walker
Anything Goes "But the show is stolen by the fantastic talents of two people. Shorey Walker as Reno Sweeney is one of the most vivacious, effervescent personalities I've seen in years. Triple-threat talents as actress, singer and dancer make her the most dazzling light on the stage-- I could not take my eyes off her. Her energy and absolutely electric spirit demand attention, and she is right on target at every moment. She has subtle command of her world, and we want to be a part of it." -Stateline News
Peter Pan "Peter Pan flew into the NJPAC with something is has rarely had: an actress who can portray a masculine Peter Pan. Here's an unknown actress named Shorey Walker – with spiky and un-kept hair, a tinge of a Cockney accent, a cock-o'-the-walk strut – as the most boisterous boy. Here's a Peter who, when elbowing a confederate in the rib to make a point, could actually crack one."
- The Star Ledger by Peter Filichia
Evita "Shorey Walker, playing Peron's mistress before the presidency, gave a heartfelt performance. Walker's sweet, clear voice was a breath of fresh air." - Kansas Press
Oklahoma! "Shorey Walker's Ado Annie creates many laugh-aloud moments." - QC Times
Wizard of Oz "Imaginative director Shorey Walker has surmounted these and other obstacles." - Commercial Appeal
"Director Shorey Walker has done what she can to make this show her own." - Memphis Flyer
Tommy "Director Shorey Walker’s very specific and highly energetic choreography carries the story even when the lyrics and minimal dialogue fail to do so." - Memphis Flyer
